Sometimes one / all of these things are necessary to get something work right.
Is there a rhyme or reason for any of it?
What are the rules?

I've had copied data in an html pane change format from center to left just shifting between items
I've had data disappear / appear clicking between items
I've had shortcut keys stop working until program re-starts
I've had IQ stop functioning after deleting a large # of items
I've had IQ drop out completely on occassion
And there are other quirks as well... and most of these can't be replicated with any regularity

It's a testiment to the Pierre & his program that no data has been lost.

I know computers  / programs / display cards / combinations of badly behaved programs, etc create different scenarios but I thought -- at this stage of computerism -- a lot of this stuff was isolated in its own little partition of memory / cpu / etc.

I am not suggesting that IQ is unstable -- quite to the contrary  -- but the above list frustrates me & wondering how I can avoid it, i.e. the rhyme or reason, i.e. the rules of the road, etc.

If you follow the timing issue, i.e. how long it takes to copy data into IQ one line at a time -- the variances are rediculous when you consider the circumstances & steps really didn't change. Same can be said for saving data in it's original format.

Can someone explain this to me? I don't think it's just my machine. I don't think it's vista. OTOH, maybe it's me but I don't think I'm an atyplical user. I'm no geek, just trying to apply a great program to my daily life. I think -- whatever these little quirks are -- adds to IQ's mysteries which we'd all like to dispel before v1.0

I'd like to determine if these are problems are just the conseaquence of this computer age. If so, I should stop whining but if they are problems I'd like to help isolate & cure them.

Maybe it would be helpful to amass (if there is a mass) a list of weird things -- not bugs -- where things work but you have to take a certain step before it does. It's like finding the 2 pixel line for auto scrolling or clicking on the item # to copy, clhanging focus to another item, etc.

Please don't hold back. If you think I'm full of it or barking up the wrong tree or have a lousy approach, it's ok. I'm thick skinned about discussing issues.

I experience some of these issues on a regular basis, so you're not alone.
I don't want to speak for Pierre, but I think he's aware of these, and I'm confident that they'll be sorted out before v.1

the thing is : it's easy to create other bugs when adding new features, implementing suggestions... It's part of the beta game. "True" stability can't be fully expected before v.1 most probably.

>I've had copied data in an html pane change format from center to left just shifting between items

This I've never experienced.

>I've had data disappear / appear clicking between items

This I've never experienced as described (data diappearance). But I still do have problems almost everyday with the HTML pane not syncing properly once in a while. Pierre said 2 days ago that he'd look again into that.

On my side, the problem only happens with HTML pane though

>I've had shortcut keys stop working until program re-starts

This, I experience everyday. Doing something, maybe after using the add item window, and then some -- not all -- shortcut (like F5/refresh) don't work anymore

There's also the problem of almost all shortcut keys not working when working in another pane : properties pane and gantt chart. It would be good if we can find what

Not recently here. Did it happen recently to you ? It's important to not bring back bugs if they had been resolved.

Yes, once in a while, when playing with scripts and fields management.

>And there are other quirks as well... and most of these can't be replicated with any regularity

Yes, especially related to cell format etc.

Happened here 10/03/09 after deleting 6-7 copy paste tests re: speed in Jon's post
Is that bringing it back; I don't know.

No, of course it's not redundant/confusing if it happened recently. These things really need to be pointed out.
