Things are going pretty well, but I still think that there's room for improvement.

The problem?

This is only and solely a discussion about the system used to gather all suggestions, features recommendations and especially  bugs  & crashes.

I don't know how many bugs/crashes/features have fallen between cracks, maybe not that much after all, but I often find/found myself reporting problems more than once. And I saw others do the same.

IMO, it's not good that users need to re-enter/report stuff more than once. Often they'll enter it only once, and if it's forgotten, it'll remain forgotten until they (or someone else) realize it's been forgotten and until someone decides to post about it again.

Bugs/crashes especially should be entered only once. And it should be easy to keep track of them. We shouldn't have to feverishly use the search function and go through 100s of posts.

IMO, something is still not optimal and We need a better "system".  Or , we could enforce the current one more rigorously.

The Solutions?

Whatever the system : It needs to be super simple and efficient. Something along those lines : only Mantis stuff will get a chance to be fixed/implemented. I.e : you don't put it in Mantis, you'll risk loosing it.

IF that was the case though, users would need to have the insurance that Mantis would be the first focus spot when it comes to bug/crashes resolution, features/suggestions implementation. If it's partly abandoned, if the forum always becomes the primary focus, then we'll keep seeing the situation where users feel Mantis isn't important after all and.... the fact that bugs slip between the forum posts will remain a normal state of things.

Mantis today...

Looking at Mantis today, it feels a bit abandoned. I know it's probably only temporary, but still...

I love Mantis. It's the only place where I can actually find something I'm looking for, fast... and keep track of it easily.

It's not lost in hundreds of posts, comments, discussions, etc.

In the forum, how many times did we read : "I thought I posted that, but can't find it anymore", or "I posted that last week, but can't find it". With Mantis it's just there in a grid, clearly and nicely organized. And each closed/resoled issue can be filtered out.

Also, when you get feedback for a bug/suggestion, you actually get notified. Not so much in the forum.

Opinions?

I think, yes, good idea to add stuff to Mantis.

I've posted stuff lately that I'm sure I posted before but couldnt find....
