If say 5 items are selected:
  • "Individual emails" will generate 5 emails
  • "Single email" will generate a single email with 5 recipients

Thanks, Pierre. So "individual emails" will send 1 item to one person, another item to another person, etc?
Otherwise why would I want to create 5 emails with the same content while sending a single email with 5 recipients is more efficient?  Privacy?

 Privacy, exactly.
you may not want to give email addresses to everybody and bcc are often rejected
