Why wouldn't you want to put 'displayed columns' under [view] instead of under [grid]'?  It seems more logical to me.

Everything related to Grids is under the Grid menu (columns are not pertinent for Calendar, MindMaps, etc). You can also move it to where you want it.

BTW Menu structure may/will be revisited when the feature set is complete

Sorry, I don't understand how columns don't have anything to do w grids.  A grid is made up of item + displayed columns. But I'll wait 'til after the menu structure is re-visited.

I'm confused Jan - am I misunderstanding -
you seem to be arguing in last post to have it in grids menu but it's in grids menu already ? (it is here anyway)

EDIT/  I just reread your first post where you want it in views - see below /EDIT

anyways, in ways the whole grid menu could be reproduced under the view menu when it comes to rearranging them

Just to add my own 2 cents, I think all of the menus could be made much better, but I have not added menu suggestions because it seems to me that would be low on the priority list with the product constantly evolving and still in beta, and I also read that UI improvements are on the roadmap.  I'd assume it's relatively easy in the scheme of things for Pierre to clean up all the menus once the product is closer to release.  One of my little pet peeves is that I can't find "manage grids" in the gird menu!  I always have to use the icon.

Ah, but then it should be called the same thing as elsewhere !

Maybe the problem is that I see the data "View" as a synonym of "grid".  By that I mean there is no other way to view data except in a grid -- even if it's a grid of one column, i.e. "item". But to the point that menus are an easy fix, I take that point & will shut up about this. I just find IQ or SQLnotes hard enough to master without constantly searching for commands.  Sometimes it's exasperating, something I don't think Pierre needs to hear from users / testers.

Other views of your items are (current and/or planned):
  • Calendar
  • Mind-map
  • Contact cards
