Do you all work with the html pane open all the time or do you open it based some field (like 'itemhashtml') ?
And when you open it, do you open it as a floating window or is it docked but unpinned or what?

Curious minds want to know.
Thanks.

hi jan

with some grids I have the ItemHasHTML field visible and open close html pane with keyboard shortcuts-
I dont really like the auto-hide but cant remember why - probably I simply prefer having manual control with the keyboard (maybe I should try it -autohide- again)

with other grids I usually have html pane open - sometimes I close it due to lack of space - again with keyboard

with yet other grids I have no html so no worries there ;-)

Oh yeah, never have html pane floating but would like the idea if I could Alt-Tab to it [not possible] but not otherwise

My html pane is open all the time, usually vertical, and normally narrowed to an inch or two to save space. If I need to do heavy-duty editing in it, I float it out to the 2nd monitor.
Sometimes I drag it on top of the vertical Properties pane, and thereby I can switch between Properties and HTML:

Somewhat related, you can also do this with the calendar view.  As specialized panes, they can be 'split'  so user could essentially have 4 panes going simultaneously.  For me this helps the desktop real estate problems. If you have calendar + another grid open, drag / drop the calendar to the bottom or left edge. Drop arrows will appear.

I have urged / suggested to Pierre in several posts that he extend the UI to include the ability to open panes inside of panes (which I believe is possible with the UI module he is using). In Ultra Recall I have views with 7 useful windows opened simultaneously. Pierre has this useful command to move or open pane 'x' in the other grid. This could easily shift to open pane in pane # x. There is also drag / drop just like there is now.
