I'll make my periodic recommendation for a fully functional "undo" command. Pierre has said he'll put it on the list if there's enough interest but apparently there hasn't been.
Earlier i tried to mark 300 items (ctrl-shift-m) but instead hit ctrl-shift-n, creating 300 unwanted subitems. 15 minutes later I'm still trying to unravel the damage as I accidentally permanently deleted some items while trying to delete the unwanted subitems.
Yes, I have backups but even the simplest case will take 10x as long to fix with a backup vs a simple undo command that can executed in two seconds.
I also have many cases where something has happened because I've hit some unknown keyboard command. I don't know if i've lost items or what. Again, a simple undo is way better than trying to figure out what just happened.

update: now its not letting me delete the unwanted subitems. Every time I try, it deletes the parent item from the grid, so now I'm going around and around trying to figure that out. I guess i'll pull up the back up and spend another 15-30 minutes trying to figure out what was lost. THIS is why I want an undo.
update2: now its getting multiple copies of the same item (another problem that has never been fixed for me). Now i'm utterly confused. What a mess.

What a mess. I think this…
What a mess. I think this is what happened:
1) I hit ctrl-shft-m instead of ctrl-shft-n. These placed 300 subitems I didn't want
2) The subitems were created from the parent (bec that was the last marked item). So then I had a parent, 300 subitems, 300 sub-sub-items consisting of the parent.
3) When I tried to manually delete the subitems from the current view, the main item would be repeatedly removed from the view bec it was it was no longer assigned to the grid (I guess).
4) When I went back to re-assign the item to the grid, all the subitem deletions were lost and i'd have to start over again.
5) Rinse and repeat above.
6) Throw into the mix that it was repeatedly creating double, triple, and quadruple bogus duplicates of the TLI.
All could have been prevented with a simple undo.

Thanks, Pierre. No, I didn't…
Thanks, Pierre.
No, I didn't change the shortcut. When I tried to mark items with ctrl-shift-m I accidentally hit ctrl-shift-n. This inserted the last marked item as the sub-item of the 300 selected items.
The last marked item so happened to be the parent of the 300 sub-items, which added to the confusion. Then it started creating many duplicates of items (old problem), further adding to the chaos.

I meant Ctrl+Shift+N, which stock inserts an item by form.
Perhaps you didn't know about the Delete Parent Link context menu...
