I don't know about the rest of you but I find the simple act of trying to print something an exercise in frustration.
For example, if I'm focused on an item, I naturally think that I can use the context menu or <ctrl>+P to print or that the print command would be under item. Wrong

If I'm in the html pane it's one thing. If I'm in the grid it's something else.

I'm whining but doesn't anyone except for me think this simple task should be simplified?

Comments

Yes, printing should be improved as it's very basic and doesn't have many (any?) options.

In the mean time, you could always export in HTML first, then print. But... this might not be more simple, only more precise as you get to choose exactly what you want to print.

Jan / Pierre / Keith : IMO this is mantis or at least manual/book stuff.

Printing should be improved, or at least user could be advised trough a popup-dialog to use export to html and then print.

Armando, I agree. Doing something w this information / issue would be better than doing nothing which is what is happening now. I really think this is a serious matter because of its universality. I mean, if it's not a simple matter to print out a page......

HTML Export dialog: Table with Columns needs to be filled out, and examples added, but how does a new user know to do an export to print in the first place?

I would suggest putting the export on the default context menu, and call it something like Export selection to a web page (for view/print)

well... 1. Print Preview is a first step, no ?

Not a bad idea.

It would be good if the printed items weren't printed in the order of section but as they they are sorted in the grid -- which is not obvious at first when you start exporting stuff... What do you think ?

BTW, Keith, is there a specific reason for adding a "0" to all numbered section (like 7.20 vs 7.2) ? It is a bit unusual...

It's a technique, to allow for insertion of pages. ( if you have page 7.2, 7.3 and you want more topics between them, you go 7.21, 7.22, thru 7.29). Then the sorting is nice and clean, without using weighting.

Once a section is stable enough, then it could be redone 2 place. I'm pretty sure several of the sections still need a lot of inserted pages.

However, feel free to change.

I do think the addition of some kind of numbering helps to read the topics of the manual.  Do beware it's easy to get lost once you start re-numbering.

Ok, yes. Good idea.

Yes. It's essential.

...It would be nice if numbering could be automated in some way.
