There was a fairly serious issue with 0.9.25pre-rel17, that it would lock up the clipboard. 0.9.25pre-rel18 fixes this.

I've also restored the checkmarks to the previous types. I had fun one evening with nice graphical checkmarks and I thought it would be well received...

Recaping the changes in 0.9.25pre-rel18 (as compared to pre-rel16):

Latest enhancements, changes and bug fixes
category Issue
Bug "Can delete on item move" (inheritance) doesn't work when parent link removal.
Bug "Tiny tiny fonts" in the HTML pane
Bug 2nd column of the Search grid after a Quick Search : Changes width without user intervention
Bug Calendar : in the menus, "Calendar -> Create event " doesn't work
Bug ctrl-Drag & Drop item from one grid to another, as a subitem : field inheritance of the new parent is not transmitted
Bug Event deletion in the calendar doesn't work as expected
Bug File links open in Scratch grid with [FileFullName] as source
Bug Gantt charts - Show overview and histogram checkbox
Bug HTML pane : when NOT in browse mode : ctrl-click on links from HTML content (not MHT) doesn't do anything
Bug HyperLinks from items displayed in a grid (hoisted or in search grid) after a quick search : don't work
Bug Link is blank when editing an existing hyperlink via dialog
Bug Links morph and fail when copied between HTML pane and grid
Bug Problem with "saving" in the HTML pane when : MHT content + itemHTMLtext is null
Bug Properties pane syncing problem
Bug When Grid hierarchy is "on", all TLI with recursive patterns (see details) will disappear from the grid...
Modification hyperlink dialogue box : folder selection won't stay after closing IQ
New feature Double-click to expand and drag-drop by bullets
New feature Enable manual recalc for hierarchy equations

Enjoy !

Pierre, I really don't mind when you try things. It's good to try things, and this is how IQ is getting so great by the day.

No need to worry... I was not being serious.

In the end, users will most likely be able to select the visual appearance of many elements, including checkmarks. As you all said, there are much more pressing issues to deal with

Thanks !

Hi Pierre. Actually the problems I reported today referred to this version. Here are the screen shots

The above is  hierarchy -- the way it used to be with full hierarchy.

The above is full hierarchy -- you can see a lot or new top level items that didn't used to be there with full hierarchy. Other grids don't seem to have the same behavior.

And the next problem:
The steps when I insert hyperlink:
1. I select the text in grid
2. Open the dialogue, browse, select, etc -- until I have successfully inserted the hyperlink.
3. I close IQ
4. I reopen, select the text, open dialogue box
5. When I finally open "browse for a file" I don't have the same folder that I choose the last time.

Now something really good that I noticed with new release --  when I change level to display the grid it is soooo much faster. Great!

Thanks
Jay

Hi Jay,

1) The first problem is related to mantis issues 214 and 213 . And these are part of my high priority list.

That's been going on since IQ's beginning. Not too many people seem to experience it.
Nevertheless, it's really disturbing.

Pierre, I really think these should cleared out... ;)
( as you know it's just not convenient to try to filter out these extra all the time -- which is possible, of course -- and that's when the user knows how to do it !)

2) The second problem doesn't need any extra explanations.

I added a note in Mantis issues 213 and 214, referring to your comment, Jay.

Again, Pierre, thanks for all your work. As for check marks, etc. I don't know that they weren't well rcvd. I see that Armando didn't like them. I, for one, liked them but thought I'd wait a day or two before commenting. There are more important things to worry about so I'll leave it at that.

Yep. I didn't ask for the "check" marks to be changed back right away. I believe I just "voiced" my opinion... I also said "let's wait and see what others think".

I work a LOT with IQ (sometimes 18-20 hours in one day -- yes, that's right -- so some UI aspects are important to me)... that's why it didn't take too long for me to have an opinion on the matter.

Again : my voice is one voice. And, yes, there are more important things... But we all know that, right ? ;)

Today I took the time to test all fixed issues + new features. Most seem to have been effectively solved, except for those already mentioned today. This is a lot of fixed issues in a short time.

Thanks ! :)

==========

FYI, these are the ones still problematic I mentioned in other threads  (I didn't include the 2 or 3 others Jerome, jsolka etc. mentioned) :
- Enable manual recalc for hierarchy equations
- Event deletion in the calendar doesn't work as expected
- Properties pane syncing problem )

I have come across a problem with PreRel18.
As far as I can tell I have installed it the same as all previous releases. However, when I try to open my current database it "spins its wheels" and eventually tells me the program is not responding.
I can open the database ok with PreRel16 (didn't try 17).
I can open a new database with trial data, and every grid supplied.
From memory, the very first time after downloading (I always use the portable version) I think it opened the database and then choked when I selected the projects grid - but I'm not completely sure on that now.
Certainly it won't open my database at all now - yet 16 will open it and all the grids it contains no problem.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,

David

I am using Win 7, 64 bit

the only idea I have is to try doing a repair of the file (when you open it in an earlier IQ version)

Menu: Tools >> Database Management >> Repair

Thanks Tom
Tried the repair - but exactly the same as before.
It's bedtime now - I'l try deleting and re-installing PreRel18 tomorrow and see if that helps.

Did you try it with v16 and, open your DB. Then make sure the "Open last view on start up " is unchecked -- you could actually do that with any DB I suppose, but not sure, haven't tried yet. Than close the DB, and try opening it with V18.

Maybe, as you said, something in a grid (many items with autoassigmnents, row equations, etc.)  is making IQ spinning its wheels. ;)

I tried unchecking the "Open last view on startup" but that didn't work.
Using the Resource Monitor I noticed that when InfoQube was showing as not responding the wait chain indicated that it was splwow64 (print driver host for 32bit applications) that was being waited upon - don't know if that helps or not.
I will try some of the other suggestions later

If you can send the file over, I'll certainly be able to find out the issue. Nothing should prevent you from opening a grid.

You may want to try on a copy of the file, remvove all items (Tools>>Database>>Remove all items) and see if the grid opens.

I was able to reproduce it with the file you sent me. Thanks!

It is fixed in the next release. You can get it to work by deleting the Non-working hours setting (Gantt section) from the problematic grid.
