Could you please look into this? There is something very wrong with Ecco import and, I think, csv import. I have attempted an import of an Ecco file with multiple columns. Without the columns, the structure of the file looks like this::

TLI 1
        SLI 1
TLI 2
        SLI 2
TLI 3
       SLI 3

I can import this file into a new IQ database, but it ends up looking like this:

TLI 1
       SLI 1
SLI 1 (pseudo)
TLI 2
       SLI 2
SLI 2 (pseudo)
TLI 3
       SLI 3
SLI 3 (pseudo)

Now apparently the SLIs are linked, so that deleting either of the SLI 1 entries will delete both. Furthermore, an examination of the property pane shows that the second SLI entry (which appears as a TLI) has a parent corresponding to the numbered TLI directly above. Thus the pseudo SLI 1 has as its parent TLI 1; Pseudo SLI 2's parent is TLI 2.

Looking again at the property pane, I see that each of the TLIs have one child. But shouldn't there be two, or are the clones treated as one?

Regarless, I cannot use the import because I cannot correct the import errors. This is very frustrating. Moreso because the same thing seems to occur if I attempt to export the Ecco file as a csv and then import it into IQ.

I think that the import worked correctly, and the issue is one of display. IQ supports a few different displays, each one adapted to either:
  1. Outliner with text content (more Ecco-like)
  2. Sorted list with columns with or without hierarchy, suitable for dates and numbers
Best is to import in a blank IQBase and send it over, else you can supply a screenshot and the various display settings (context parents, hierarchy, save item state)

The files are on their way. Please let me know your findings. Have fun!

Thanks for the files.

The Ecco importer has a minor issue regarding setting of the main parent. To fix it, simply to a Tools>>Database>>Repair.

Thanks for reporting

Hi Pierre:

I tried that before I reported the issue. Just ran repair again, but it seems to make no difference.

Hi,
My file still had problems with full hierarchy. I'm using prerel13 and it works fine, but when I switched to prerel19 all those unwanted new top level items appeared (when full hierarchy was on). Would it be different with prerel20?  I could send my file to Pierre (during the weekend) -- this would be easier than going back and forth with posts or emails, if it could help.

Thanks,
Jay

Yes, I fixed some issues with hierarchy display in pre-rel20.

You can of course send me the file if you want, and I'll be able to see if there is some more fixes required to get the same display as pre-rel13.
