Since we've had another tooltip "bug", I thought about mentioning these ones too (been in my list for a while)

1- The tooltips in the properties pane take a long while (about 4s) to appear, compared to others

They're immensely useful, so it'd be good if they could appear a bit quicker (and reliably -- sometimes they don't appear, but I'm not sure why as it doesn't happen too frequently... I think it has to do with the grid focus)

2- On mouse over grid tabs and buttons : it would be nice to have the various grid info in a popup. I think it used to work, but it doesn't here (well, I don't use the "grid buttons" an a toolbar, so I can't tell about this one, but they don't appear in the grid menu.

Can add to mantis if confirmed, wanted, etc.

Does that mean that they'll also appear in the grids menu ? (ctrl-shit-o)

jibz modifier key idea is a good one IMO. OR an "info" option in the properties pane context menu, like for the grid.

Properties tool tips should appear a tad faster I find -- or with the "info" context menu selection, as I suggested, maybe.

I think the properties pane tooltip speed should be put in mantis--I could really use them now, (a new grid that has a lot of columns) and found the grid was giving less than 1 second tooltip speed, but the properties pane tooltip running 3 or 4 seconds, which is unuseable.

Why would the speed vary so much?

As to speed, I also want them as fast as possible.

I reduced the mouse hover time, thinking that might help, but it's still not fast enough for me in the grid columns, which is where I'd really like the speed.

I guess it's a trade off between having to wait for the pop up and having it annoyingly block your use by popping up too fast.

But I agree it takes way too long on the properties grid .. at first I thought it simply wasn't working when I tested it, because I moved the mouse when nothing had shown up for a few seconds.

Other options could be a modifier key, so say holding down Alt while hovering over an item would show the tool tip immediately. Or there could be a small ('i' for info) icon just to the left of the field that would show the pop up as soon as you hover over it.
