Comments

 Thank you Pierre.

I'm particularly interested in the new tagging abilities -- both for search & calendar

I see how the tagged items to calendar works (neat) but could you outline how you saw this being implemented by the user?
I see tagging as grouping like things together in a temporary list
but I'm not sure the most efficient way of gathering the tagged items that uer may want to to move to calendar

In the case of the calendar, is this an interim fix for drag-drop to calendar or is this the way it will always work in IQ?
If so, how will that linking translate to Google sync?

In the weird but & important dept:

In various dialogs,
cursor is double arrow which works but may be confusing to casual user

Yes, I find this popping up all over the place. In windows like options, and even in the grid!. Very distracting. I find it difficult to work with, so for now I am back to W5.

Hi Pierre:

I'm sorry to report that W7 does not fix the double arrow issue. Try hovering over the grid columns or moving the cursor to a blank area of the grid. I also get this in various windows (property pane, options, etc.).

Even with all the improvements, I have to stay with W5. Sometimes clicking in the column header will select a column when I need the filter.

I rebooted and the situation is exactly the same.  I tried taking a screen shot, but ClipMate and even PrintScreen do not display the cursor. Trust me - the problem is there and it is all over the place. It does not occur with W5. Only 6 and 7.

To make matters worse, I thought all of my check boxes that were ticked in a grid in W5 were lost. They do not display as ticked in W7. Also, I noticed that TLI that have sub items are not always displayed as such in 6 and 7. Refresh does not work. I have to expand the grid then use CTRL 1.

Up / down. Looks similar to re-sizing a window.

I don't think I've ever seen these type of arrows in IQ. Maybe because I'm using another set of cursors ?

OK, if it has to be, I guess I'll just have to live with it. I have an affection for those bullets from my many years with Ecco. The only thing I did not like about their implementation in IQ was their centering instead of being top aligned.

What's the rush and the reason for getting rid of them?
Can they be kept in there as an option for us members of the Ecco generation?

I have just made the upgrade from W8 to W10 and - maybe it's just me - but I find the loss of list bullets to be totally unintuitive, like operating blind folded.  For one thing, bullet styles used to visually identify where I had subitems, but that quick visual reference is gone now.  Am I missing something?  Are bullets an option toggle now or something?  Or is there a substitute visual for identifying items that have collapesed subitems underneath it?  I must be missing something.   thanks

Hi Doug,

Thanks for your comments. Having bullets on each item may be available in the future, as an option, but for now, it was causing stability and performance issues, so I decided to remove them.

Instead, expand / collapse buttons are shown when needed. Since v0.9.25W10, you can edit the icons to your liking, but the default is a + and a -.

Many users have found the changes gives an improved, clearer, less loaded look to the outlines. Give it a shot !

OK Pierre, thanks for your response . . . but:

- how do I activate the expand / collapse buttons, because right now I have nothing to the left of items except faintly dotted L shapes, although I have since figured out that short L's signify collapsed items underneath, whereas tall L's signify no collapsed items underneath.

- how do I "edit icons to my liking", I'm not able to locate that command ?

thanks for your patience

Pierre, again thank you, but sorry . . . I do not understand how to make the + and - signs (expand/collapse buttons) appear as icons in front of items.  I do not have them anywhere in W10, including in the same help documentation grid you've illustrated above.  All I've got are tall and short L's, that do expand to tree lines, but that's it.  No + or - signs/icons.  No clue how to make them appear.

Sorry.

Hi Doug,

You can also add lines to all grid items to give you a visual representation of your outline.

yes, I always use the grid lines.  thanks Jan.  it's the + and - signs/icons (expand/collapse buttons) that I don't understand how make appear.  right now, for me, W10 has no bullet type for items, except the faintly dotted tall and short L's that constitute the vertical tree lines (I guess).
