Following up on the previous discussion regarding adding hyperlink to the URL field here: https://infoqubeim.com/drupal5/comment/26218#comment-26218.
I tried Firefox and Chrome (I don't use Edge) but the URL field is not populated (except for once). I even tried with a blank database.

(I selected and copied the text of a hyperlink on websites and pasted it into IQ as html. It properly creates an item hyperlink. It is shows as "https://news.google.com/" (ctrl-K). However, this link is not added to the URL field.)

Also, as I mentioned in the previous thread, after I paste the text/hyperlink and move away (clicking Enter or selecting a different item), the item text often is deleted. I have not been able to pin down when/why it happens.

I guess that I will need to demo this at the next Coffee shop.

Why not use this method, easier and more reproducible:

  1. In MS Edge: Right-click on a link > Copy Link
  2. In IQ: In a grid, in the Item column: Ctrl+V > HTML Format

Fast and simple and you get the link text as a hyperlink in the item column and the link URL in the URL field:

Regarding the copy hyperlink text method you use, I tried it in Chrome, Edge and Firefox and it works equally well

The issue was that you were pasting while editing. It was not supported. It now is. Next time please provide clearer steps

IQ is very much like Excel. The default mode is Browse. You do an action to start editing (F2, double-click, type a character, etc)

Like Excel, Edit > Paste has many possibilities that are not available when editing, such as select and copy multiple columns at once (Ecco could not do this). Learn how to properly use Browse mode to optimize your usage of IQ

How do I ?
