Hello again.

When I try to use the Firefox web clipper, I get the message:

IQ web clipper cannot find a running instance of InfoQube

But IQ is running...

Versions are: Firefox 4.0.1, IQ 0.9.25T

Just possibly related: since upgrading to 0.9.25T, each time I start IQ, I have to authorise the software to make changes to my system (presumably access to the Windows registry). Why the change? And would this make IQ unusable by Windows users without administrator privileges?

I'm not having either of these problems with same: Firefox 4.0.1, IQ 0.9.25T. (I presume you have a database open in IQ?)
but I have to confess to running as an admin - OS below.

XP - SP3      IQ Portable - up-to-date

Hi Mark,

- I Don't have this problem here, so it might be linked to the permissions problem you mention.

- Also slightly related: when one opens another DB and closes the first one (I think) IQ can't find the DB anymore (Win+C or Win+N doesn't do anything -- there'S not even an error message). It's always been like that.  (Note however that the Web Clipper as such -- i.e. when clicking on the firefox "InfoQube: cOpy content"--  doesn't seem to be affected  by these circumstances.)

And.. a related Mantis suggestion:
0936 Universal Clipper or Browser Clipper (Firefox, etc.) : Option to select Database where data will be recorded

Thanks Tom and Armando.

It's true that I do have two active IQ bases and that I flip between two running instances of IQ sometimes... There may be some connection.

I am running IQ with admin privileges anyway, so that shouldn't be an issue. I should have mentioned that this is all under Windows 7 64-bit.

The problem is solid, that is, I can no longer use the web clipper; I always get the message "IQ  cannot find a running instance of InfoQube" when I try to click the link icon in Firefox. This problem is new in a recent version of IQ (I'm not sure when it started!).

When I go to Extensions in Firefox to attempt to reinstall the IQ Firefox add-in, Firefox crashes.

well it sounds like you've got a pretty serious bug there -
does Win+C work? if so you could use that as a workaround for the moment -
it should copy selected text to html pane in new item dialogue and also adds url + window title.

Have you the same problem with a sample file?
Are you using the portable version?

I just had a similar problem with the regular clipper (Win-N). I used procmon and saw it kept trying to access the file. The following worked for me to fix it.

Quit InfoQube and then make sure you don't have any extra InfoQube.exe processes running using Task Manager or Process Explorer. If you do, kill them (delete key).

Then make sure you don't have a ldb (lock file) laying around. The ldb will have the same name and be in the same directory as your SNDB file. If it's still there and you have no InfoQube.exe processes running, then delete the ldb file as well.
