Situation:

User opens Explorer window
right click to drag / drop file to IQ as an item (or sub-item)
drag / drop dialog opens
Text from the last file drag / drop operation remains In window where user is to input text to describe new link

because I would think the cache for the text portion would be cleared out by IQ. instead user has to select & remove before adding new text for new link

I still don't understand why you consider it a bug... Maybe you don't like the behaviour, but that's different.

- The text is already highlighted and so you just need to type over the old name without any other action on your part. As if the text field was blank.

- It  can be useful if you're linking a bunch of files one after the other and want to keep the same name minus a number or a date.

Personally, I like it and would like it to stay as is.

Yes, this is done on purpose to get the best of both worlds. If the previous text suits you, do nothing. If you want something else, start typing directly

Jan, why do you right-click for drag/drop ? (step #2 - maybe it has some effect I'm not aware of ?)
