Pierre, I think it's terrific that you have consolidated how the user opens drop down menus or calendars,i.e. all via F2. 
 
However, here's my thought on that. 
 
<F2> is commonly used for editing command for IQ & other programs. And, in fact, that is its use in the grid. 
Now it is given another use
 
On the one hand, it's good because the user doesn't have to consider another command (easier). OTOH, it may be a bit confusing. 
 
Which leads me to asking: do you (or anybody) think <ENTER> might be a more natural alternative?

No idea... it seems natural to me to press F2 once to edit and F2 again to bring up the pop-up editor (list, date, etc). F2 again to close it.

It is easier to use <ENTER> instead of F2 for the simple reason that user has to use <ENTER> to enter the date.
Now it is <F2>+<F2>+<ENTER>
 
My way it would be <ENTER><ENTER><ENTER>
To me that's easier & makes more sense

I was waiting for somebody else to chime in first. :)
I'm partial since I'm the one who asked for that consolidation, but Pierre was already on that path anyway (calendar etc. worked that way).
 
I personally think it's fine this way. F2 to enter edit mode, F2 again to see the different choices. <ENTER> to leave editing mode.
 
However if we really want to do it the Standard Windows way, the shortcut would have to be  ALT+DOWN ARROW. That's the real windows standard.
