The page that KeithB posted on setting up an icon for an item w HTML content -- link to nonexistent node ID 2033 -- was quite interesting.
I'm still left w a couple of questions:

(1) is there any particular place that icons have to be stored. See icons
(2) do they have to be of a particular format, i.e. gif, png, etc. Some icons are attached.
(3) has the export syntax for icons been fixed. See Icons in item don't export
(4) I don't understand the relationship between the names that are available w the list of icons that are already named here -- link to nonexistent node ID 738 --

Hi Jan,

I'm planning adding in v0.9.25E support for item icon, selectable from a 2-D dropdown list, which will show just left of the item, as it is something I've waited way too long to implement

Advanced users will still be able to use the advanced techniques for icons, but this will bring IQ to the level of so many other apps (i.e. typical 2-pane "ouliners")

n.b. I've edited your original post. Please use the hyperlink syntax [node:xxx] to link (see details in Linking to other pages), as Drupal nicely substitutes it with the thread subject (instead of blind tinyurl links)

tks Armando & Pierre.Pierre, given plans for 95E I think I'll wait on icon implementation altho I'm intrigued by the idea of automating the appearance of an icon for those items that have HTML content. Sorry about tinyURLs. Bad Jan....won't happen again.

Hi Jan,

When I wrote that thing on icons (more than a year ago), I used my own icons set. That's why i also added at the top :

 - At startup, IQ loads the  files in the Icons folder (\InfoQube\icons\). All icons there can be used in IQ. See section 3 below for a list of icons names.

- If you want or need to add icons, they need to be 16x16 gif files, 8bit color depth, and you’ll need to restart IQ to be able to use them. Icons in another format need to be converted to be usable (free tools like XNView or FastStone image viewer offer features for batch conversion).

Note : there are some nice free icons available there ( licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 2.5 License), courtesy of Mark James, a web developer from Birmingham, UK. There is also a nice thread at DonationCoder.com discussing free icons sets.

Maybe it wasn't clear enough that they should 1- be in the \InfoQube\icons\ folder   2- and be 16x16 gif files, 8bit color depth. Whatever Icon you decide to use/add, you need to convert them to that format (most good image/photo editor can do that -- e.g. : Gimp)

And Keith added this line (+ a screenshot) :

5-22-10  The first two columns are the stock program icons. The third column are icons available in Armando's sample file.

But maybe you're referring to the files extensions being left off ? (icon instead of icon.gif  ?
