I only recently discovered that the Sortbar sorts links normally (i.e. the sort is based on visible text).
I still prefer the Sortbox as it is more powerful and stable, but it shows linked items before unlinked items as it sorts using the html code

My experience of links is with files dragged onto the grid:
I propose that the whole way that links are added to an item be changed - instead of making a link text, have the link at the end of the text.
Say,
when adding a file to IQ that one have the option to add the filename (as currently) but that the link would be added after the filename e.g.
Filename.doc (Link)

I almost never use other links but I believe they could work similarly (anyone?)

That way the Sortbox will work more logically (and be easier to explain!)
I believe this idea may have been suggested before (maybe even by me) but the Sortbox method of sorting give a compelling argument in it's favour

double-post there Armando

I knew the Sortbar was going to be improved but wasn't aware that it "would become the main way"
I guess once it sticks, also on closing/opening grids it would be as good as the Sortbox (I just prefer the minimal space used by the Sortbox as well...)

I dont think so, going by Pierre's clarifications in one of those thread on the topic lately

I don't think this would be ideal -- there are advantages, if only in terms of space, to have the "names" themselves to be links.

So do I.

But in the recent discussions about sorting, it became pretty clear that "the sort bar / sorting using column headers" would become the main way as it's easier to understand for most new users. Which doesn't mean of course that the sort box would disappear.

Of course, that means that the sort bar needs to have its different issues completely fixed...

And... The sort box could probably be made to Ignore HTML tags, but I don't know for sure.
