this is something that puzzled many users during the last few years : do they need to press save or not...

IQ seems to be doing all "saving" automatically. 1 questions and 1 suggestion :

- Are there situations where a user might want to press ctrl-s to save the grid state?

- if there are situation where it's necessary to press save, could the button be renamed to something more specific  ?(e.g. : "save grid state", or "Save grid aspect & filters"...)

Comments

Grids are automatically saved when closing.

Grid >> Save, is a command to save it now.

The only reason for using it is if you want it saved now (eg: Fast search uses the saved grid item list)

Thanks for the clarifications. That's what I thought. But aren't grid also saved before/during a refresh? It seems like it.

In any case, my point was more about the terminology used and the real necessity to have that button there : having  "save" in the grid menu is confusing as nothing says what's its use. Ctrl+s is usually to save content, which isn't exactly the case here.

So if the only reason for using it is to make sure that the items displayed in a grid will be included in the "shown in" column (are there other situations ?), why not automatically saving all grids when "fast search" is triggered and get rid of the button (or rename it more accurately)?
