Would be nice to have an "explorer mode" for navigating an outline with keys - namely:

- left arrow collapses subitems to parent
- right arrow expands parent to show next level of subitems

Right now left and right arrow move between columns.

Maybe the left and right arrow could still move between columns, except in the tree column.  In the tree column, the first press of right arrow might expand an item it has any hidden subitems - the second press of right arrow would move to the next column to the right.  Similarly, first press of left arrow would collapse to parent if any; second press would move to next column left.

Not sure if I'm getting what you're explaining, but right now -- at least in my version -- ctrl+arrows (left/right) does exactly that. It also works in the properties pane to collapse/expand sections.

You can also do:
ctrl+[1-9] to collapse/expand all items in the grid up to a certain level.
ctrl+shift+[1-9]  to collapse/expand the currently focussed item up/down to a certain level.

I think it's in the help file... not sure.

In general, IQ is pretty keyboard friendly. A few things here and there could be added, but I'm sure they will.

Ctrl+Pluskey will expand item that currently has focus, and show it's subitems.
Ctrl+Minuskey will collapse subitems of currently focused item. If it has no subitems, or they are already collapsed - it will collapse to parent item.

Here these don't do anything. Maybe I changed the defaults a while ago but I thought the defaults were now ctrl+left/right arrows (plus the ctrl+[0-9] and ctrl+shift+[0-9] ones) , as in the properties pane.

Yes, I see they no longer work with today's default shortcuts. They were in the default set at some stage - I hate resetting shortcuts after an update, cause I lose custom shortcuts; but I'm not organised enough to update shortcuts manually as they are changed....

Maybe that wasn't  changed, after all.
You can customize that. Right click on toolbars>customize>Keyboard>Item>Collapase/Expand. Select and save you new shortcut

As for changing he defaults, it's up to Pierre!

they're in the default keys now - *but* you need to 'reset'.
menu: Tools > Keyboard Shortcuts > Customise => Reset

AFAIK you will lose any custom shortcuts though

Ah! That's it.
As for loosing the shortcuts : you can save them before reset, and then reload the ones you want.
1- Tools>View Custom Shortcuts
Save them somewhere with another name... You can even remove those you don't want in the text file.
2- Reset shortcuts
3- Tools>Load Custom Shortcuts  (load the file you just saved somewhere)

Default shortcut keys for expand / collapse were changed a while back, from Ctrl +/- to Ctrl right/left arrows.
I believe this was done based on user comments
