I want to create a dictionary of symbols.  Each symbol is to be shown in its own cell, with the name displayed in the adjacent item column. Additional info would be in the HTML pane or in subitems.  It appears you can only paste images in the item column.  I've tried every other column type but none will accept images.

I thought for sure I'd tested this before and you could freely copy/paste images in any column.  Am I mis-remembering or is something not working?  Is there another way to accomplish what I want?

Thanks, Wayne

Maybe this would work:

1) Paste image in Item column.
2) Create a new text column for the description
3) Apply "set as tree column" to the text column so it can have subitems

I don't know the pitfalls of this approach but I'll give it a shot.  If nothing else, I'll learn something.

Update: didn't work.  As soon as I set the other column as the tree column, I could no longer paste images in the Item column

Still working on this and hoping I can get an experienced user to help.  Maybe I'm the only one who's ever tried to do this.  It seems like a handy thing to be able to do:  display an image next to an item in the grid.  Would be perfect for organizing a visual reference like a catalog of symbols.

I thought I might be on to something when I discovered you can display various HTML attributes in the grid.  Unfortunately, it'll only display text, not images in the grid.

Even if you haven't tried to do this, does anyone have any ideas for avenues to explore on this?

You can display icons in cells mixed in with text. Images can be shown but appear in lieu of item text
To add icons, use the pop-up editor

It is technically possible to display arbitrary images anywhere in the grid, so if you want this, shout !

Thanks.  That confirms what I'd concluded.  I've figured out a work around that's not quite what I originally wanted but isn't bad.

Yeah, I'd appreciate adding this to the wish list.  I wouldn't argue it's a high priority item at all but I think it gives the user a little extra flexibility in organizing and displaying info, which is InfoQube's great strength.

I've been paging through the help files and old threads looking for ideas.  I guess I could convert the images to icons but that would be a lot of extra steps and would clutter up the icon library.
