I'm pretty sure I brought this up before and Pierre agreed it was an annoyance that he was going to fix, and did fix.  If so, it's back again.

I have my properties pane set to display field assignments.  Unfortunately, every time my grid focus changes to another item, the properties pane re-sets to the top, and I have to scroll down again.

While I'm at it, is there any better, more direct way to see what fields an item is assigned to?  I've been selecting each item then visually scanning my field assignments in the property pane.

2 ways :
- "values" section in the properties pane
- Columns in a grid

And If you're after specific fields, why don't you add those fields to a grid or to a form in the properties pane?

I honesty don't know what else could show fields and items together better than a grid, or items + an extra pane (AKA properties pane and its specific sections).

Special tooltips? Not sure that would be quicker than the properties pane. Probably harder on the eyes as it wouldn't be as stable.

I'm not advocating this, necessarily, but the other option I can think of is to have a column that displays all field assignments for each item.  That would show everything in one spot.  But there may be too many to comfortably show in a single cell.

I was also thinking of the "Shown In" column displayed in search results.  Doesn't show all the fields but does show grid assignments, which in itself I think would be handy.

I don't mind manually scanning the properties pane if it wouldn't re-set every time I change items.

Hi Wayne,

It is working fine here... When changing the focused item, the Properties pane stays put. It will only scroll if the focused field is not visible. Lots of other apps properties pane work this way.
Could it be that you scrolled the Properties pane so that the focused field (or property) was not visible ?

I'm clicking only on the item column, no other fields.  I have the properties pane scrolled down so I can see the field assignments under forms.  When I click on the next item on the list, the properties pane re-sets to the top and highlights "Item Properties"

I'll post a couple of screenshots.

Here's the an item selected (pink) with field assignements displayed under forms in the property pane.  Note that property pane has been scrolled down to show fields under forms.

OK, but what was the selected property in the Properties pane ? I don't see a pink line in the Properties pane.

Now I select the next item in the list.  See that the property pane has re-set to the top and shows Item Properties selected.  My fields under Forms are now cut off at the bottom (not shown in screenshot), and I have to scroll down to reveal them again.  This happens every time I select a new item.

The content will actually move up and down depending on what section the focused field is in, and  depending on the opened sections above the section you're in (especially the values section where the number of fields can change from item to item). It's manageable though.

True, it does move a little. Improvements could be made. But Wayne's issue was more significant and I was trying to see the cause... Wayne ?

Armando and Pierre,

Thanks for enlightening me.  I know it's shocking but the problem was my understanding, not InfoQube.  I had no idea you could do separate selections in the properties pane which will always be kept in view.  Sorry for the time waste but it definitely helped me.
