Hello all,

I've been using the clipper a lot lately and have a few suggestions for Pierre to consider.  As always, let me know if any of these things are already incorporated into InfoQube (I'm still using 9.78b).

My primary suggestion is to make it easier to edit a clip after it's been captured (eg add highlighting).  It takes too many steps to find the clip.

1) Make grid refresh automatic.  I know this has been discussed before.

2) Make sorting automatic when the grid is refreshed.  I have my grid sorted on "ItemCreated" so the last captured clip is at the top.  But when you refresh the grid, it does not implement the current sort.  You have to go in and manually sort again.  Couldn't refresh be set to implement the current sort?

There may be other ways to accomplish the above.  For example, maybe add an option to the capture dialogue that allows you to automatically go to the clip in InfoQube after it's captured.

Wayne, I believe how a grid is set to sort affects this IQ behavior.  I also have my inbox set to sort by item created.  I have the item created column visible, and the sort bar visible, with item created column dragged onto the sort bar.  The moment I refresh the the newly clipped item appears and the sort is implemented.  As Pierre would say HTH.

Agree that an automatic refresh for clipped items would be nice.

To complement what David said (all of which is fine, IMO)

In the default database, there's a grid called journal, IIRC. This should show just created items.

I personally set up a grid called "justCreated"

The grid has NO SOURCE (meaning : all db items are considered) and a FILTER (filter text box in the source bar) :

itemCreated > now - 1 |

This is for today's items.

It could be modified endlessly to show other times.

last 7 days items:
itemCreated > now - 7 |

Last hour's items :
itemCreated > now - 0.04 |

etc.

And then you just sort by item created.

Of course you could also use the perfectly usable date toolbar that Pierre created to show items from specific dates. I don't use it simply because it takes more time (for me).

(And as you said, yes, maybe a setting for those who want that : more automatic refresh under certain circumstances -- I personally find that it slows everything down (way too much) so I disable any automatic refreshing for grids.)

Thanks.  I'm still working through the suggestions.

I have the capture set up to go to the Inbox which is sorted on ItemCreated.  I think that accomplishes the same thing Armando suggested.

I'm making progress.  When I refresh the grid, it is moving the latest clip to the top, which is what I want.  But I'm still having to manually refresh even though the grid is set to auto-refresh.  So adding a clip does not trigger auto-refresh?

A little suggestion -> reprogram the refresh from F5 to ALT+Q or something more convenient. If it's easier physically to refresh, it won't be such a hurdle in your workflow.

It does not trigger it for me, if the grid is open I have to manually refresh to see the newly clipped item.
