Opening/moving grids in/to the biggest tab zone/group is often a problem here, everyday.

I tend to set my work space in a specific way (specific grids in specific tab groups) and will often reduce the size of some zones (they become barely visible) to be able to see the data differently, etc.

And I also often use the omnibox to switch between grids and between zones, and IQ will then disrupts the way grids are grouped by moving grids around to the wider space... And I really don't want that.

Could this new feature be an option we can turn on/off?

Thanks!

If this is done I'm with Armando on the option part , as I very much prefer them always opening in the largest zone group. But can definitely understand how that could be a problem for some users.

So if I understand correctly, opening the IQBase does restore the groups OK, but using the Omnibox to open a grid that is in a very small tab group will move that grid to a larger group and you don't want that
Is that it ?
But is opening a new grid in the largest group also an issue ?

In principle, if you open a new grid, you're probably looking/focussing at/on a tab space wide enough to read your data.

So "everything considered" I think it's logical to open new grids right beside the currently focussed tab (in the "current" tab group), unless the focus is already by mistake in/on a tab space so tiny that nothing would be readable - opening the new grid there would be useless.

In v85, instead of moving the grid to a larger tab group, I'll increase the size of the group to show the grid
That way, groups will be preserved and at the same time, users will visually see the desired grid

Seems like a good compromise! Thanks Pierre.
