In this release (v0.9.85):
  • New: Can now detach a tab to show it in a docking pane. Views can docked anywhere. Home Page can also be detached. In addition, it can be made floating

I havent figured any of this out -- can anyone summarise what is new, and explain 'how to' ?

I also read that calendar can be detached, dragging not working here for me (clean 85a portable / Win7).
Btw, does detached not already mean 'floating'?

Thanks

Hi Tom,

Right click on a tab and select "detatch".  That will create a separate grid area and from there you can drag it anywhere you want.  Repeat and rinse - IQ is now an endless series of panes and you can drag and drop all of them all over the place.  Applies to grids, property panes, HTML etc.

Just be careful. While it works pretty well, certain functions (display mode, sort) tend to get mixed up and not apply to the current pane but to the main workspace. Risk (pretty small) of data loss.
this will probably be rapidly fixed... after Pierre gets to rest a bit!

Ok, thanks for that.
Tried the sortbar, is working ok.

Other thoughts:
To get the grid back to the vertical tab groups, I have to close & reopen it.
It's great to be able to put a grid on auto-hide :D

The problem will appear when combining stuff : 1st changing display mode, than changing sort.
there's also a problem with multiselect check boxes. Careful.

Yes, the only workaround at the moment.

As I also just reported in another thread, I think it MIGHT be necessary to use Grid > Save to save your layout after rearranging it.  I'm not sure though.  I just know I've lost my layout several times and it hasn't happened since using Grid > Save.
