Since Jim has suggested a few "moon shots" lately here is one of mind.  Now that I am using IQ not only for task management but info management I have a lot of grids and expect to add more and more.  I'd really like to be able to put the grids into collapsible categories on the Home Page.  I've even investigated doing that with pure HTML, but from what I can gather it's not possible (usually requires Java), plus would require the HTML pane to be set to browse mode.

Is there a way such a feature could be made part of the built in Home Page capabilities in a future release?

Thanks

Hi David,

It wasn't too hard to do, so a first version is included in v92:
  • New: Home Page: lists now support expand / collapse (Favorites, Grids, Groups)

Is there any way to expand this behavior to user created home pages?  I don't use the built in home page, I take advantage of the ability to create custom home pages, and have all my grids broken down by categories.  Each category is a text header with the grids listed below.  I'd like to be able to make the category text headers collapsible lists.

Thanks

How about using grid groups, instead of your categories ?

I would use Grid Groups if Home Pages didn't exists but I strongly prefer customizable Home Pages which I personally found to be a transformational change for IQ :-).
- I want my grid navigation seperate from the Properties Pane.
- With home pages I arrange my categories and grids however I want, which is often not alphabetical (I believe grid groups only sort alphabetically).
- Much easier and faster to add/move grids around on my customizable home page.

I understand, but I think you're missing a key feature of grid groups... they can be shown in Home pages too !!
See 8. Home Pages and 7. Grid Groups for details

I did not realize that, that's fantastic.  It's really close to being able to do what I wanted, but unfortunately not an option I'll use since I arrange many of my grids into categories/groups hierarchically as opposed to alphabetically.

So my original request stands if it's something that could be easily implemented :-).

Thanks

Ideally, grids (groups or not) could be organized hierarchically, exactly like fields, items, etc. It would make more sense, be more intuitive.

It would just be the logical (and coherent) extension of what can already be done with other IQ components.

(BTW, I don't use the home grid, even if it seems like a good idea. I don't use it in Outlook either. I'd be curious to know how many people use it, why -- i.e. what need does it fulfill that can't be fulfilled otherwise. But it can be for another thread...)
