This feature is something I was super interested in at one point, but the implementation is such that I never used it. Things position themselves incorrectly, there is no way to drag things around the way I'd like etc. I could record a video but I am not sure it's even required? I assumed the limitation was from the UI element it's based on.
Has this improved in the last several years and is there any way to make it more responsive without a tremendous amount of work? A nice mind mapping canvas for IQ would be pretty incredible.
A good example of a beautiful/simple free cloud product is Whimsical. I can create a beautiful mind map in minutes. I don't expect full Whimsical type functionality, but it's an example of a a nice/simple mind mapping tool.
Thanks

I forgot to add. To make it truly useful, for me at least, it would probably need some drawing elements that don't represent items. For instance I might just want to draw some arrows between items. Or add a text comment on the canvas, where I want it positioned, that is not connected to anything else.

Hi David,
Indeed, the component used for the IQ Surface does not allow graphics elements, arrows, etc. It is more of an alternate view to grids than a full-fledged mind/concept mapping solution
In v117Pre14, I improved the OPML import and added a brand new OPML export module. That way, you can export your IQ items and structure to a dedicated app (Whimsical does not however have any kind of import/export, so another app would be more suitable)
BTW, IQ's Map View may be close to Whimsical than the Surface...
HTH !
