Continuation of my new computer saga. I followed the directions to transfer settings and this worked, for the most part.
But my custom colors were NOT transferred and that has me worried because my notes heavily rely on assigned colors (mostly fill colors).
Is there any chance I could lose my custom color assignments in this process?
1) Item has custom fill color "x" but "x" is no longer in the options settings
2) Item presumably displays with no fill color (or does it default to some nearby color?)
3) Custom fill color "x" gets added to the options settings.
4) Does the item now display the custom fill color "x". Does it "remember" this formatting assignment?
I could work this out for myself but I'm afraid to open the files. I'm currently am using only a temporary "Current" file I created to tide me over while my computer was being replaced (used it on an old laptop).
I'm afraid I'm going to open the old files, find all my fill formatting gone, and have no way to recover it.
My plan is to:
1) Find my custom color code (I have copies somewhere).
2) Paste these into options for my temporary Current file.
3) Close this file to confirm the options update, then re-open the file.
4) Open one of my old files and see if custom color assignments are intact.

Hi Wayne, The thing I don't…
Hi Wayne,
The thing I don't understand is that the custom colors are saved in the IQBase (Tools > Options > 2.1.6) so they should not be dependent on the installation.
Unless you're referring to some other custom colors. In IQ, they're called "Named Colors"... See this link
Thank you for setting me…
Thank you for setting me straight on another nonexistent problem. There was a certain sequence of events that gave me concern. I'll spare you the details but take my word that it made sense to me at the time. The fact that it actually makes no sense doesn't change that.
