I have an IQbase which I sync from my desktop to my laptop (via Dropbox) and vice versa (when traveling), and it uses my Outlook.com email address and password for Email to IQ functionality.

Strangely, though, when I sync the IQbase to my laptop, I have to reenter the email password; otherwise the Email to IQ functionality doesn't work. (I.e. when I try to check for emails I get an error message). Then, after syncing the iQ base back to my desktop, the same thing happens, and once again i have to re-enter the email password to make this functionality work.

Any ideas about how I can solve this?

Thanks! (I am of course using the most recent version of IQ, on Win 10.)

1. I don't use an app password and I don't have 2FA turned on for ANY of my accounts, both Outlook.com and Gmail.com.

2. In the past I used a Gmail address which I had designated exclusively for EmailtoIQ, but at some point it stopped working - every time I tried to connect to this account with IQ this failed. Now, though, I see that happened because Google blocked access from IQ, since it is considered a "less secure" app.

I accordingly decided to allow less secure apps w/ Google, and now I can connect to this Gmail address with IQ. I then designated this address as my new EmailtoIQ address, and it worked fine. Nevertheless, when I synced my IQbase to my other computer, I encountered the same problem - the connection failed!

3. After this happened, I decided to display my email password in the newly-synced IQbase, and much to my surprise, I discovered that the correct password, which I had initially entered, somehow got "mangled" in the course of the (Dropbox) sync: a string of different characters appeared instead of the original, correct password! But when I reentered the correct password instead of the "mangled" one, Email to IQ worked fine!

Bottom line: why should the password (and only the password!) get "mangled" in the course of syncing from one computer to the other?

Thanks!

OK, at least I have something to start on solving this issue (most likely an encoding / decoding issue)
