I've got a large number of tab-indented .txt outline files that I'd like to get into IQ.
The File > Import > Text and Image Files option gets me fairly close, except:
(1) it puts only the file name of each file into the Item field, and I'd like to include also the Size and Date Modified.
(2) it puts the text of each file into the Doc Pane for the item created for that file. Ideally I'd like the text to be subitems of the parent item that contains the name, size, and date modfied for each file. That way each original tab-indented text file would become a suboutline in IQ.
So it would be nice if there were a "Convert Doc Pane Content to Subitems" function. Highlight all the desired items with Doc Pane content, activate this function, and the subitems would be generated, preserving the original indentation.
As it is my plan is to merge all the indented text files into a single tab-indented file - with an unindented "parent item" for each file, containing file name, size, modified date, with the tab-indented content of each file below each each "parent item". I hope that the IQ File > Import > Hierarchical Data will produce the results I'm looking for without a ton of cleanup required.
