I am trying to make the move from Anydo to IQ Calendar. IQ calendar has several advantages. Non the least of which is the unparalleled support from Pierre.

For IQ Let's say I set up a repeating task for every week on Friday. Currently when that Friday task is done I mark it as done and then I delete it leaving the following Friday task ready.

What I need and have not found a way to do is somehow change that done task to show it as greyed out or strikeout WITHOUT effecting the rest of the ensuing scheduled tasks.  At the moment if I grey out that Friday done task every other ensuing Friday task is greyed out.

If I could manage to get that working I could move everything from Anydo into the much more flexible IQ.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Max,

In IQ, events inherit item properties, so you cannot have a different property for a particular instance of a repeating task.

The only exception, is if you move the event, it becomes an repeat exception and you can then change the text of the event, so if you add <s> at the beginning of the event text, it will be strikethru

What could be done to improve the current IQ Calendar is:

  1. When an event is marked as done, an option could create a repeat exception and change the text for you
  2. Add an option to convert the repeat instance to a standalone item. It would then be possible to do just about anything with it

HTH!

Thank you Pierre for the informative response.

For me option 2 sounds like just the thing.

As you know I use asutype so I can see where a simple macro could

a. Change the item to stand alone,

b. Mark as done

c, Greyout the item leaving the ensuing repeating tasks untouched.

This would be exactly what I need.

The more I think about it the more I really would like to see Option 2 become a reality. The ability to consolidate my tasks and events into the IQ calendar would be a immense step forward.

Sounds indeed as the most logical solution, so if an instance of a repeating event is marked as done, a dialog is shown to either

  1. mark all events as done (i.e. the item is marked as done) or
  2. convert the event to a distinct item and mark it as done, leaving other events as not done

Thanks good for you?

Eons ago, an ECCOPro tech support person gave me a tip in handling exceptions to recurring tasks. In EP, with the recurring task (or recurring appointment) highlighted, all you had to do was hold the Ctrl key and type "CMV". This quick maneuver copied the recurring task, marked the highlighted task as done, and pasted the copied task in the same spot. The copied task did not inherit the recurring property but it inherited everything else - it became a standalone task that could be changed without affecting future recurrences. This sounds like what is proposed in option 2, which would be helpful.

How do I ?
