Database import

Submitted by WayneK on 2022/04/06 14:02

Can someone confirm that there's no way to import or combine InfoQube databases?

I just want to make sure I'm not missing any new developments on this.  Couldn't find anything in the user manual or forum (even though I think it's been discussed).

I'm looking at combining multiple files. Doing it by manual copy/paste is going to be a chore (I've done it before).

Font recommendation

Submitted by LeftEccoForIQ on 2022/04/06 08:17

I recently discovered Microsofts new cloud fonts that come with display-optimized variants. Of those, I particularly like Tenorite display for the calendar as it is a good deal narrower than Segoe UI variable display, which I continue to use in all grids, thanks to Pierre's recommendation.

Less pertinent to IQ, I love Google's Nina font for when I want to get a lot of text onto a page while keeping it pleasurably readable. I've found no others that compare.

Esc erases text

1) Start typing text in item cell.

2) Hit "Esc".

3) All typed text is erased and cannot be recovered with "undo".

I don't think it's supposed to do that, is it?

It doesn't happen every time but I've had to retype text quite a few times.  I don't know why, but somewhere along the line I got in the habit of hitting Esc to exit editing.

I made a mess with my touchscreen

Submitted by jimspoon on 2021/12/29 15:07

Late at night with foggy brain, I thought I would scroll through an IQ grid by swiping my touchscreen.

A was the parent of B and B was the parent of C.  Somehow by my swiping, I made C the parent of B!  But somehow B was still the parent of C.  And A was no longer the parent of B.  So neither B nor C appeared under A anymore.  I used Live Search to find B again, and found both B and C there.  In the Search Grid, with context parents on, it now looked like this:

C

  B

    C

      B and so on.

A rough comparison of InfoQube and Notion

  • Richness of features
    Both are strong.
They have many similar features, like user definable columns, filtering, sorting and grouping (IQ's grouping is better), multiple views/grids, bi-directional links, favorites, IQ's multiple parents v.s Notions linked pages/databases, IQ's dashboard grid(very flexible) v.s Notion's board views, formulas, import & export ...
