Handling repeating events in grids

Hi IQ Users!

A long standing issue with repeating events and tasks was how to handle them outside of the Calendar.  That is, what event date should be used?

The easy and common choice is to use the first instance and this is what IQ did. Ecco also did it that way. Google Tasks generates new items a few days prior to the next instance date.

The proposed change would be to compute the next event instance when the item is marked done. More precisely, when a change is made to the Done field, the value would be modified to be the next instance after the Done date.

When Displaying Several Grids together, Please indicate when the Main Grid is Active.

I am displaying several detached grids together.

Below is an example of the main Grid (ToDo) and one of the detached Grids (Inbox).
I am often believing that the main Grid is active, while it is not, and I make changes to the wrong Grid, which is active (e.g. the Inbox).

Copy item(s') text without the "IQitems" data type / format being put on the clipboard

Pierre, could you please add a way to copy the text of one or several selected items without putting the IQitems format / data type on the clipboard? I would like to be able to differentiate programmatically between what I wanted to do when copying rather than having to decide each time when pasting whether I want to paste items or just item text.

item editor - back and forward buttons

Often I work in a specific grid, adding one item after another, moving back and forth between them.  It occurs to me that it might be convenient to stay in the Item Editor for this kind of work.  But then you'd want the easiest possible way of moving between items.  A forward button would be good to move to the next item down in the grid, and a back button would move to the next item up.  When either button is clicked, any changes made to the item would be saved.  And of course there should be appropriate keyboard shortcuts for forward/back.  Or maybe it is already possible to do this from

Option to set Doc Pane width independently for each grid

If not implemented yet, a feature request:

I use doc pane a lot for most of my grids. Grids' column numbers vary a lot. I have to keep doc pane narrow for grids with many columns. For others I don't need to. So, if I could arrange width of each grid independently, it'd be wonderful.

Thanks,

improvements for text value entry (Auto List of Values)

When I have a text field set to "Auto List of Values", I'd like to be able to start typing a value, and then the dropbox should drop down automatically with the values that match the text that I have entered so far.  Then I'd like to use the down arrow key to select the value I want, and then press Enter to complete the entry.  Right now, the dropbox doesn't drop down automatically, but I have to click the down arrow button at the right end of the cell.  (Is there a keystroke that makes it drop down?  I tried Alt-Down, no luck).  And if I type "Goo" and then click the down arrow, the dropbo

entering value into empty text or numeric field

IQ makes it very easy to add a tag(s) to an item.  Ctrl+T goes to the Tags pane if it is open, otherwise the tags selector popup appears; and the tags list can be filtered to show only tags that match the text entered.  It would be great if the same applied for the entry of values into text or numeric fields.  It would be great if there was a Fields selector popup that could be activated by a keystroke, and if the list of fields could be filtered just like the tags can be filtered.  Actually I just discovered that even right now it's very easy.  F4 to go to the Properties pane.  And even if

Could something be done to make keyboard outlining (Alt + cursor keys) faster / more responsive?

For when re-sorting lots of items under different parent, I find that grids are often not very responsive and the items feel slow to move. When I try to use key repeat, say when I want to move an item up by ten spots, the keyboard buffer is quickly filled up with stored Alt-Up commands but IQ takes a long time to process each command so it often gets stuck in some kind of loop and the item moves upward several times more than intended, with IQ often becoming unresponsive for several seconds.
