Hello,

After having done some research into the subject of Marketing of IQ in the threads, I have seen that their hasn't been much (public) discussion.  Maybe more things are happening via the PM communications?  Owing to not seeing this broached specifically, I thought it might possibly be advisable to add it to the mix., so here we go.

Why?  Because decisions made on this (marketing) strata could have a direct impact (at least for consideration) on the development decisions Pierre has to make about IQ to drive development and our participation.

Let me use the subject of how wikis/WikiTags might be germaine.  Please see this post for reference...

My primary consideration that I wrote about was the potential impact allowing well-established wiki-users to be able to seamlessly add all that IQ has to offer to their/my/your(?) existing wikis.  As one who has recently been left hanginig by the native inadequacies of personal wikis (both payware and freeware), I can vouch that the advantages IQ adds to a wiki are significant.

The personal/corporate wiki market would be a HUGE market to grab share of and IQ is poised to take full advantage of this opportunity.  Also, keep in mind Pierre (others?) have to eat.  Not to sound too mercenary (I am receiving nothing for this), but market penetration and market acceptance, especially at the outset, is a very real and serious consideration that needs to be part of the equation if InfoQube is to be more than a "geek's hobby toy."

Let's face it, "The Qube" is not just a new face on old bones like some fashion fad.  It is a new paradigm, the next generation of PIM.  It is not just a linear ascent, but a quantum jump by magnitudes in the genre.  If things really take off (and I am persuaded they will) then Pierre et.al., would have demands that would necessitate expanding staff and perhaps production.  Even if the whole product remained digital (download only), the potential need for additional staff to make corporate presentations, technical support, custom programming and accompanying logistics would be a reality that cannot be escaped.  It would be expected that large corporations would require one or more permanent on-site IQ Professionals at HQ and many would desire/require the same at the branch offices.   Finally, Pierre and the IQ Professionals, would have to have a corporate base, if for nothing else than the obligatory paper files for tax, licensing, regulation and other government authorities.

Frankly, I hope that IQ makes Pierre a billionaire so when Microsoft or Adobe (anyone remember CoolEdit 2000Pro?) decides they need to add IQ's Office PIM engine to their offerings and approaches Pierre with a couple 'o million bucks, he can just say, No thank you."  There is no way that the IQ paradigm won't be successful in the long run.  The only question is "who" it will be successful for?

Ok, what do you think?  Is the potential R.O.I. from exploring the wiki market worth looking at and planning for?   Am I half-baked or is this something that needs to be added to the real agenda?

Lastly, we have only explored the wiki market potential and how it might dictate IQ development.  I wonder how many and what kind of other markets exist that could have an impact as well?

Fair winds,
Calvin
