You know, you cruise along making life enjoyable and taking on a challenge when you get the chance.  A great way to live except when two diametrically opposed challenges present themselves! Yaign!!

 

It so happens that we, as a family, had adopted a quasi-GTD (I don't think D. Allen has all the answers) and was implementing our plan.  Given our circumstances and the chance to renew our cell contracts, three of us have adopted the BlackBerry Storm/Tour as the platform of choice.  We had discovered some good apps for our BBs and had made them to serve us well.  Sounds good, right?  Anyway, along comes this possibility I might have to relinquish my Storm to my adult daughter (family secretary for three fledgling household businesses), so I begin to re-examine what PIM offerings were available...

 

WHAM!!

 

I come across the holy grail of PC apps in the likes of InfoQube!  Not only that, but IQ is still in active development, which I have always enjoyed being a part of!  I like being able to contribute to software development and being able to have the chance to (possibly) modify it to my liking as long as it doesn't hinder everyone else.  Well, it turns out that my Wife (my best friend) strongly infers that I would probably be served by keeping the BB.  She has been my companion for 30+ years and I have learned to not underestimate her perceptions over the years, besides I have used a BB for many years (6510) and was a Tier 2 BB Tech for Nextel/Sprint for two of those years.  I love the "flow" of working with it too!

 

See my dilemma?  I have a solid dichotomy that each choice is a winner and a loser.  The biggest problem is to use both would require major duplication of effort and that is out of the question, for obvious reasons.  If I split up the various duties between IQ and BB, then I can't use the full power of IQ and lose the portability of the BB.

 

Yeah, I know... this is nothing new.  This is a question that has plagued mankind since the first Palm made its entrance, but it is still a real problem for me, mainly because I have outlined and planned over 190 todos on the BB when we went ~GTD and all those would have to be duped in IQ?!?  Even if I kept the BB as my PIM and duped the entries (it is do-able), I still *want* to work on IQ!   C'est la vie! 

 

Ok, there is no pat answer to this quandary as it is completely subjective and I am on my own, I know.  I am not looking for advice.  I just needed a place to vent my frustration.  Thanks for listening.
