Can someone help me with entering special characters? I am used to using a little utility for my operating system to enter unicode characters (found here: http://www.fileformat.info/tool/unicodeinput/index.htm), but unfortunately this doesn't seem to work with infoqube. I also don't have a separate number keypad on my notebook, so alt+number ascii codes only work sporadically, and not for certain characters that I like to use quite frequently (e.g., ≠ and ∴). Thanks.

Thom, I suspect this is related to an ongoing problem with clipboard extenders & IQ. (Anyone using a Clipboard extender with IQ?)
Where exactly are you having problems with this - is it in HTML pane only or in the grid as well?

Possible workaround:-
When it doesnt work, if you get the focus back in the HTML pane & press Ctrl+V it might then paste the character (that works with my current clipboard extender)

I'm not sure what unicode characters you are using but there are a couple of apps over at donationcoder.com forums that might (or might not) work better than your current

www.donationcoder.com/Forums/bb/index.php    Easy Unicode Paster 2.0 is Released (Major Update) Looks very good (havent tried it)

and there's a plugin for FARR (launcher) called Character Table but that does require installing the launcher and then installing the plugins (well, FARR itself is portable so not such a big deal)

Thanks, Tom. My primary concern is to enter special characters into the grid itself, characters which have a decimal value in the 900s (greek characters) and 8000s (mathematical symbols), and therefore can't be entered using alt-num codes.

I realized that there was a font disparity between my iq and character map, and having resolved that, I am able to paste characters copied from character map into the grid, once I am editing the item. Unfortunately, this is a little cumbersome.

I'm guessing that the problem with the utility I normally use is that as soon as I switch focus to the utility from iq, the item in iq leaves edit mode, and the characters then sent back to iq result in a '?'. That this is a focus/edit problem is suggested by the fact that if I try to paste characters from character map into an item which is not in edit yet (focus on item, but requiring F2 to enter edit), I also get a '?' instead of a character, which doesn't happen when I am actually in edit.

Somehow the characters are getting lost in the process of automatically switching to edit when input is inserted (as opposed to already being in edit... which I can't maintain once focus is switched). If this can't be corrected, would it be possible to have another solution? Perhaps alt-x (typing in hex value, and then pressing alt-x to switch to denoted unicode)?

Edit: added following:
Using 'auto-edit' doesn't affect this behaviour.

The focus issue is a long standing one I have with the grid supplier. Hopefully, it will be resolved one day.

One workaround that should work, is to use the pop-up editor. Press Shift+F2.

After testing however, it doesn't work as the textbox used is not Unicode. This is now fixed (upcoming release)

Thanks, Pierre. That should be quite adequate!

My grid/pop-up editor still won't accept higher Unicode entries (the mathematical operators). Is this something pending?

Best,
Thom
