I tried modifying names of an event recurring every day for a week and it worked.

I tried your exact same configuration, with the same names, same recurrences, etc. And I was able to change the name to "Bills".

(Right clicked --> modify --> Open The Series --> Changed the subject to "Bills")

Am I doing the same thing you are ?

Armando, you did not take the same steps but when I followed your steps, I had the same result as in my original post.

However when I opened single occurance  vs series I saw the original title. if I opened the series i saw the updated title. So I changed the single occurance, & then the graphic calendar displayed the change.  When I checked, all future months picked up the change as well. This is very weird & I don't know how it got to that state.

So, Jan, is it still an issue ? I was not able to reproduce your problem. Which doesn't mean that it doesn't exist, of course.

Yes, I think it's an issue because it happened & shouldn't have, Armando but I'm not going to put  it up on mantis because it doesn't meet Mantis criteria, i.e.wasn't confirmed.

Ok, let's wait for it to reappear then. Are the steps described in your first post still producing the bug in your installation ?
I'll try later today.

A few things to check:
  1. When did you create this event ? If it was quite a while ago, there were small bugs with the calendar that were fixed
  2. Perhaps you modified an exception, or you modified the series, but you're looking at an exception. Once an event is moved, it becomes an exception to the series, even if it is moved back to where it was, The bottom-right icon is different for exceptions and trying to delete it will say so in the dialog
[edit] Just saw Jan's last comment. (2) was apparently the case. Could the issue me marked as solved ?
