I've found another flexible way to easily access my many grids (presently 34), without any setup involved.

Simply use the "Manage Grids" dialog!

(Views>Grids>Manage Grids), or  Alt+G, or click the appropriate icon.

Once the dialog is up, you can arrow through the list of grids quickly, then open the one you want by clicking "Open" over to the right, else Alt+O then Enter.

What is really nifty is that the description can be easily seen, as well as the other current settings of the grids. The description really comes in handy as you get more and more grids, and try to remember the purpose of the grid.

You can uncheck the "autoclose" and open a bunch of grids.

You can drag the grids' names around any way you want, and perhaps put the most-used grids at the top, then "Save grid order".

Suggestion: Put a "close" box up near the "Open", to be able to easily close a grid also.

Interesting. I did use the dialog to open grids I was currently configuring, but I rarely used it for that usage otherwise.

(P.S. It's easy to change a grid name by mistake though -- careful. Some other suggestions : Alt-o + enter feels awkward to me -- I think it should only be "alt-o". I also hope that the manage grids and field management dialog would function more similarly : search as you type, auto save, etc. "New" to create new grid, etc.)
