Ok, I am certain I am missing something totally obvious here, but I have been failing at adding a comment to an item with the HTML pane for 10 minutes.

I have a grid open with a number of items. I open the HTML pane, and select an item, then I write some stuff into the HTML pane. I navigate to a different item in the grid, and back to the first one, and the HTML pane is empty.

Auto-save is enabled in the file menu, but I still tried the Save button, still nothing.

I tried Create a new HTML document, still doesn't remember a thing.

I tried checking the ItemHasHTML property, still nothing.

What am I doing wrong?

I really dont know. Sounds like something is acting up -
is the problem just with one item - or with all items?

Have you tried refresh? A restart could be helpful.

A little further testing uncovered that it only happens when IQ opens that last used database on start up from my Documents folder.

If I store a database some other place it appears to work ok. If I open a database that works, and then open the one in my documents, it works. But if I close IQ and open it again it doesn't work again.

 Jibz,
This sounds very similar to the problems I have been having:

The symptom of "last used database" opening is the same. In my case I don't have that turned on but suddenly it started happening. My problem was confined to one machine which I now have to avoid for IQ since as of Pre-Rel 23 the problem still persists. My other machines work fine. I sent a sample DB to Pierre but he has been unable to identify the cause.

Yes, it does sounds similar.

I was wondering if it might be a permission problem of some kind, since I am running on a normal user account and it only happens with databases stored in my My Documents folder.

Probably not permissions in my case since running as admin but now you mention it, the problem machine has a different user to the other machines though both have full access to the DB which is on a server.

It's a long shot, but do you know the Windows user name on the problem machine ?

FYI, you can force IQ to use a different user name (by using InfoQubeForUser1.bat)

 Passed information to Pierre off-line.
