with a combination of keyboard shortcuts &/or options I'd like to be able to:

insert new child item directly under TLI
insert new child item @ bottom of child list of TLI
insert new sibling above current item
insert new sibling below current item
insert a new child

Some of these are already implemented. Some have been discussed / requested before. See:

Main Menu > Tools > Keyboard shortcuts > View all shortcuts: is it complete? Ex: couldn't find insert item (sibling or child). Can I add to it? Should it be divided into sections by usage....??

That would be handy. But I see only one in your list that hasn't been implemented

1- when there are already children under the parent : insert new child item directly under TLI
+
(2- insert new TLI at top of the TLI list ... Just added this one to the list)

These could be ctrl-alt enter, and Alt-insert (respectively

Opinions ?

P.S.

If I'm not mistaken, those already exist :

insert new child item @ bottom of child list of TLI/parent : ctrl-enter.
insert new sibling below current item : enter
insert new sibling above current item : alt-enter
insert a new child: ctrl-enter. (same as 1st one, no?) : ctrl-enter
Insert a new item at the bottom of the TLI list : insert (added this one to the list)

Yes, they exist but I included them to demonstrate the grouping of similar commands; how there is some repitition between <INSERT> & <CTRL><ENTER> & one thing missing, i.e. ability to enter directly under TLI. I wonder if this should be an option rather than key stroke? What do you / anybody think?

I don't think I said that.

I said that those are the same :

insert new child item @ bottom of child list of TLI/parent  : Ctrl-enter
...
insert a new child: ctrl-enter

Unless I didn,t get what you meant, the second is just a rephrasing of the first. And I didn't write insert but ctrl enter.

That said, I don't mind having it as an option.
