This is the second time that tis has happend. But here is what happens. I create a new fied in an existing grid, save & close the manage field box. I go to close the grid to reopen & refresh it but do not actually reopen it. The grid tab shrinks to the size of the grid icon losing the grid name & stays that way. Status indicates that it is updating the column.

If I click on the grid that used to be the grid in question, it is completely empty. Closing & reopening IQ gives me back the grid, but all the fields are gone. I can recover by simply restoring the shown fields.

I think that maybe I did not wait long enough for the field to be updated before closing the grid, though I cannot say for sure. Screen shots included.

Thanks, al

Hi Al,

I was not able to reproduce it, but I'll try again in the coming days. Thanks for reporting

Does it happen systematically? Does it depend on the field type being created? The grid tab shrinked to the icon immediately after closing the field management window?

this happened to me a few times before. Couldn't find out what was causing it... But seemed to be linked to either the grid management window or the field management one.

Hi Pierre,
Typically, I am not paying too much attention, but this time I paid a little more. My wife left me some for the weekend!

I am not sure what you mean by "systematiclly" but:
I was creating a field with a checkbox type in Field Management. (I don't remember what I was creating the first time this happened)

I Selected "Save" then "Close" in the Field Management box.

Shortly after closing the Field Management box, I closed the grid to start to refresh the grid. It was at this closing point that the grid "shrunk."

Oddly, I have restored the missing fields (nothing damaged) & the field that caused all this trouble was still in the Field management box. That field is now restored & working ok. <shrug>

Hope that this helps. al

There are definitely problems with grids retaining their columns, etc.

I just noticed that I lost all columns in my project grids -- don't know if that happened after playing with the gantt or after opening the field management or grid management window.

It could also be that it happened after I opened another database, ad na made changes to the project grid -- since there are other problems linked to playing with 2 databases at once here on my machine (grid buttons not responding properly, etc.)

Again, I lost  all columns in a grid -- there were 20 columns. (and I'm not going to fix that one now...!)

Same symptoms.

--> The little grid empty grid tab of death appears (only the size of the grid icon, as alysse described) . To late --> It usually means that one grid will loose all columns when this minuscule tab is closed.

It happened a few minutes ago. This is what I did in the grid management window  just before it happened (there are many problemswith the relation between this interface and the grids : many changes don,t stick well when grids are opened -- but that's for another thread)  :

- reordering grids in the grids management window

Could only reproduce it twice, with a lot of fiddling (leaving my grid open, reordering stuff in the grid management window, closing the window, testing, etc. [loop]) . Haven't been able to reproduce it more. There might be other factors. Auto size was off when it happened. Only thing I changed.

This is a fairly ennoying bug in terms of usage -- as putting back many columns, resizing them, etc. etc.  in a grid can be pretty time consuming

Just happened again. But still can't reproduce it consistently. And I didn't loose all columns this time... I would have been happier if I would as this bug seems more and more complicated to understand...
