When I drag and drop an image into the item field, it first shows up as the image. But if I close the grid and then reopen, it now appears as a text link. How do I get it to (1) always show as a link and (2) always show as an image ?

Thanks!
Mark

Thanks for the reply!

Show Pictures doesn't seem to change anything, even after refreshing and/or closing/reopening the grid.

Does it matter what field the image is in?

Thanks!
Mark

Oh yes, it must be in the Item field, the one with the tree

Well, the column label says "Item" and it did display as a image when it was first dropped. I don't know about 'tree', but it is the field with the little blue bullet in it.

What was the image file name? (it works here when I try it...)

Only 32k on the disk.

I see, you can't have both an image display and a hyperlink. Simply remove the <a ... > tags.

Removing the html didn't change anything. I even tried closing and reopening the file. Still doesn't display.

Even if it did work, keep in mind that I didn't create the hyperlink tags -- they came automatically when I dropped it in. Do they not appear when you drop things in? I'm dragging and dropping -- are you using some other approach?

Also, the images do appear the first time I drag and drop.  But then they disappear when I refresh.

The images appear the first time, even if view->show pictures is off, so its almost as if the system is totally ignoring the "show pictures" setting.

... several minutes later ...

Purely by accident, I put an image into a child of another entry. This sub-entry does have html tags (it doesn't matter), and shows up as an image ... all the time! Even if show pictures is off.

One more problem. As I move a drag-and-drop image in and out of the parent/child relationship, at some point the "full file name" field won't let me edit its contents. All I see is a little box with dots, that won't let me edit when I click on it. What can freeze out a field like that? I'm thinking that it has something to do with its "inheritance", but not sure.

Thanks,
Mark

I'm having related problems, maybe this can provide some clues:
I have 110 links to jpgs in a grid, img 6107-img 6216, via drag/drop. The only way I get it to work properly is to turn hierachy off, and turn context parts on; then I get this

However, if I turn context parents off, or turn hierachy on, I get the following:
6107-6139 picture shows
6140-6177 link
6178 picture shows
6179-6183 link
6184-6185 picture
6186-6187 link
6188 picture
6189-6196   link
6197 picture
6198-6206  link
6207 picture
6208-6213 link
6214 picture
6215-6216 link.

It's annoying, because it can take many seconds to first display the grid when some of the pictures are showing. View>pictures doesn't have any effect.

[/quote]I just noticed I have another grid without hierarchy, and it (properly) does not show some of the pictures inline. However, view>pictures does not work.

 bump!

requesting either a fix or a workaround that doesnt involve turning off hierarchy -
I never need/want to see images in the item field so wouldnt mind (or would be happy even) if it were temporarily disabled

probably should clarify -
I'm adding images (tiff, jpeg, very large size) to the grid as linked items
They show in the item field as images - at a couple thousand pixels high per item, the grid is unusable :-)

Show Pictures in the menu doesnt have any effect either way

The grid is not made to work with large images. I've added the Image Viewer(s) to aleviate this.

You can open many Image Viewers and the images will cycle viewers

I'm not sure, but I think maybe you didnt understand me ?

I want to link to files (that happen to be images) - when I drag them to grid, they show as images even though I dont want this and I'm unable to turn it off.
Personally, I dont want to see images in the grid at all (although I guess icons would be an exception) so it would be great if I could simply disable this function. or if it were fixed.

I can no longer with IQ as I'm used to - till now I've only been working with linked vector images in IQ which dont preview.
Now I'm working on TIFFs & JPEGs

Till I release the next version and if you don't need the FileName/FilePath fields filled, you can use the Insert Hyperlink>>Browse for file.
