Installed portable version
IQ Version: 0.9.25C build 9/30/2010 09:48:08 PM
Portable in E:\InfoQube
Grid: 4.4.0.9.UNICODE Menus: 13.4.1
App files in E:\InfoQube\AppFiles
App data in E:\InfoQube\AppData
User files in E:\InfoQube\Users\Jan

I started this grid from scratch using exact same criteria
It is now working as expected
Sorry for anyone else who may encounter this problem; I can't explain this because I didn't do anything differently

=========================================================

I checked properties for my Grid named "Journal"
It is designated as the Inbox
I clipped some data & assigned it to the inbox in the clipping dialog
Altho the data appears in the data base (search), it is not assigned to inbox
The data is stored in the HTML pane

It is working here... the only thing I can see is that your InBox grid (Journal) does not have a simple source, or it has a filter applied to it (one or more of : filter box, alpha, date, grid column)

I can't tell from my source bar because I can't open my source bar as reported in a different thread
However, I looked @ Tools > Grid Management > Journal > properties & that is attached for you to inspect
The curious thing for me is that it was working before. I didn't change anything & it is not working now.
Maybe something changed that I'm unaware of.

This grid doesn't have any source, so it can display all items. Do you have a date filter applied ?

The source is [all items]. That's what I put in there from drop down menu.
When I refresh that disappears from the source dialog; I assumed that was per design
It is filtered for today as all I want to see is everything that has transacted today

Hi Jan,

The "Use this grid as the In-Box" option in the grid properties dialog only does one things  :

Let's divide it in  steps. When you
1) add an item through the add-item dialog and
2) the "Assign to... In-Box" option is checked,
3) IQ will "assign" to that item the source field of the default "Inbox grid" . (The journal grid, in your case... Read below)

In your case, as I said, that grid is the journal grid, and it seems to have no source.

Hence, nothing will be assigned to the item, not even the inbox field as this isn't what the option is supposed to do. The default IQ inbox field is just there to be used as the inbox if you don't change IQ's basic config  (i.e. : Leave the "inbox grid" as the "inbox grid"),  but you did change it. Which is okay but has consequences.

If you want the inbox field to be assigned to that item, then you need to configure the "Inbox" grid appropriately.

Hi Armando, Thanks for taking the time to reply to my problem. Your post helped but the mystery for me is the following -- which you may have missed from an earlier post:

I started from scratch, set it up w the same criteria & now it seems to be working as expected.
However, I must point out that the source box is still blank.
Go figure.... ???

Hi Jan,

It is a great habit to change the main post heading to <SOLVED ...> Thanks !

It would help if a final post could be written. I can see users going through the thread, getting at the end and thinking it is not solved.
