Using .25c.
Tools | Options | Grids | Grid items back color: even lines
Select any color in the system. Does not get applied. Not sure if system colors work in any of the other options.
 
I could not find this. Has it been reported previously?

Seems to work here. But it's one of those where I needed to close and reopen my grids.

The colors in the palette work as you describe, but the system colors do not work. Grid closing/re-opening and closing/re-opening IQ do nothing. I have tested this on Vista. Windows 7 and XP. When I apply the changes the background colors default to white.

confirmed here (I had never tried them before)
Trying to use one of them for selected item back-colour caused IQ to crash (simply disappear).
