Twice in the last week I have lost data.  It seems to be related to the use of Filters, and involves the loss of the most recent data entered prior to the use of the Filter.  When it happens, it is repeatable - enter data, use Filter, lose data, etc.  This is the first time i"ve experienced the loss of data in IQ.  Reported this in Mantis but don't see it in the Forum, so here I am again.  Doug

Hi Doug, I'm sorry you're having problems. But you should know that filter can not delete data. Questions : 1- What filter are you using, exactly ? 2- What are the exact repeatable steps ? Thanks, a.

Most recent trouble was/is with the "Done is Null" filter.  Before that I think it was related to the "Hoist" filter.  Selecting or unselecting Done is Null no longer hides or reveals Done items, I need to do a refresh afterwards, and Saturday, as well as the occasion before that, this process was causing the most-recently entered data to disappear.  Today, so far, data isn't disappearing, but Done is Null filter still needs to be refreshed to work - this isn't how it used to function.

I can confirm that toggling the Filter button (same for the Sort button) on the Source bar no longer refreshes the grid. This change was to make the process more consistent with the A and D (alpha and Date) filter buttons.
  • Some visual feedback is required to inform users that the grid needs to be refreshed
  • A grid setting should be added to enable / disable this behaviour
As for the data loss, Check the Journal grid, by selecting the proper date, the item is probably in the database, and simply not displayed in your grid.

Thanks Pierre for clarifying the Filter button refresh.  I agree a setting should be added to enable/disable that function because personally, my preference is that when I hit Filter the results snap into place - having to additionally hit the Refresh is awkward/cumbersome/not-intuitive in my opinion.  Regarding lost data, I don't have a "Journal" grid or field, perhaps I deleted it, but I did do a Search for some key words in the lost data and nothing showed up.

One more question, why does the "Column Filters ON" setting not stick when grids are closed and then re-opened - or am I missing a setting somewhere that accomplishes that? - because I find the need to always be re-executing that to be a bit of a nuisance, my preference would be undo filtering rather than having to continually redo it.

FYI, I continue to use IQ continually in my PM work, keep up the good work. Doug

dont know if this might help:
the default Journal grid is a grid with nothing in the source (i.e. it shows all items) and the date filter is on - to limit the number of item to a specific time period

When a user has several filters on (date, alpha numeric, source bar box filter, sort criteria), having the grid refresh after each change can be extremely long... Especially when you have a big DB.

An option to turn tha behaviour ON/OFF is a possibility.

Yes, the column filters are reseted after a grid close. It's been asked to make them stick (together with column sort) -- I think it's in Mantis somewhere. I might check all that during the weekend.

In v0.9.25L, this is now fixed. Column filters are restored on grid open.
