Linking to Zotero?

Submitted by davet on 2011/05/05 19:17
Is there a clear explanation of how to link to Zotero and read the database contents into a grid?

I saw this link at the main IQ website: Pull data from external databases, local or remote
So, I clicked the Pull data link...which lead me to:

Example: Sync with a Zotero database

Hi Dave, I never did that kind of stuff before -- well, I did a few things but never worked with them. I don't have enough time at the moment, but if nobody helped, I'll see what I can do in a few days.

Armando,

Thanks. Meantime I'll plug away at it. I didn't want to re-invent the wheel if someone knows how to do it.

  1. I was able to install the ODBC driver by going to: http://www.ch-werner.de/sqliteodbc/ and downloading the driver for Windows 7 64 bit.
  2. But then I was at a loss as to what to do next. I spent about an hour going around in circles getting nowhere.
  3. Finally, I decided to go outside the IQ Community to look for solutions. And I found some general information on how to set up and ODBC driver at: http://www.ehow.com/how_4642566_setup-odbc-database-connection.html Ah yes, that looks familiar. I have done various ODBC connections in the past...but that was many years ago...and I'd forgotten all about this stuff.
  4. I can see the SQLite driver in the Administrator tools. Now I need to figure out how to connect the driver to my Zotero db as my next step.
I'll fiddle around with this some more later when I can find the time. I have to go out of town for a few days and won't have access to the Internet until next week.

This looks like a useful resource that may be helpful as I get further into this problem: http://kimmonsdesign.com/node/24
I think the comment below is interesting. I took it from the reply section of the link above:

To be continued.
