I've added a PDF to the wrong item's HTML pane, so I want to remove it. I cant figure out how - - help?

I know I've had this problem before but never figured it out I dont think (or else I've forgotten).
It doesnt seem to be intuitive at any rate (or else I'm having one of those days...)

Also wondering - if I show a file in the HTML pane, is this a link, or is the file stored in the database - or the related folder?

EDIT/ seems to be a link - cant find anything in related folder.

In the item Properties pane (F4), find the value called 'ItemHTMLFile' and erase the contents.

IQ does not embed documents in the HTML pane. It displays an external file (MHT, EML, PDF, DOC, XLS, etc) or text content

thanks Pierre,
is Thom's recommendation (delete contents of the "ItemHTMLFile" field) the only way to remove the file-link?

No, you can also directly select New HTML document from the HTML pane.
