Version 0.9.26Pre-Rel7 is now available !

In this version:

  1. Fixed: Grid column list was sometimes not saved
  2. Changed: Small request - Rename EXE ProductName to just InfoQube
  3. New: EMailToIQ feature. Imports into an IQBase emails sent to an email address. Simply create a dedicated mailbox and use it to dump info into IQ. Setup is done in Tools > Options. Details to come
  4. Deleted: POP Email checker. Too limited as it stood and not used by users.
Enjoy !

Comments

Yesssss ! E-mail to IQ is handy. I tried it and it works well.
I even tried to insert field names in the subject line by preceding the keywords with # and it works like a charm... Not that I guessed it myself...
haven't tried the other Evernote conventions yet...

Great work !

Hmmmm.  Maybe one of you could help me w exact steps to set this up.
I thought I did it right & now all that happens is that IQ stops responding on ANY action
I'[ve introduced something IQ doesn't like in the new email section probably.
Thanks

Is user supposed to create a new email to IQ dB?
Is user suppsed to use stock email grid?
Settings for email?

Updated 12/23/12 15:40  Thank you, Pierre

Warning: If you input the wrong info to new email options, it will suck all the energy out of IQ until it becomes unresponsive. Pierre will probably clean that up pretty quickly

Workaround  (1) Disconnect from internet / wifi (2) correct data. (3) Reconnect internet / wifi

Correct Settings

user name = new email2IQ account
password = password for new email2IQ account
IMAP = imap.gmail.com  Port 995
Use a secure connection = yes
Enabled = yes

FYI, There used to be a way in gmail to include a label in your login username so the email client only sees the emails for that label. So you would login with something like "USERNAME#LABEL@gmail.com" So instead of using a different account you could just use the special login. I think it only works for POP3 (but could be wrong on that). Note it's different than the "USERNAME+TAG@gmail.com" aliasing (which is used to create lots of incoming email aliases.  I don't have the details, but thought I would at least share the idea.

Armando,

(1) How do you forward your evernote email?
(2) for fields is the convention a # before each field followed by a comma & space, i.e.    #field, #field2

Merry Xmas.

Hi Jan,

Hope you had a great  Xmas too !

1- I'm not sure how I understand #1 : are you wondering how to send something to Evernote AND IQ at once ?

2- Yes. E.g. [without the quotes] : "This is my new task #task, #duedate"

This will create an item with "This is my new task #task" as the item text + it will check the task field if there's one, and will insert the default date in #DueDate (if there's such a field in your DB).

There Might be other options which I'm not aware off.

Correction: It should create this item:   "This is my new task"

Hi Pierre,
Here, it creates "This is my new task #task"

I just tried with
"test #duedate" in the subject and I got an item with "test #duedate" in the item field.

A space is required before the #. IQ parses the string " #".
It also parses the string " @" but ignores it. In Evernote, it is used to indicate the destination notebook

Yes, there's a space in my example. Whatever the amount of spaces, the item field will always contain the field name in it once in IQ.
Maybe there's something else I didn't get.

- Like I said : the parsing of terms preceded by  " #" works (corresponding fields are being assigned a value), but the field indicators remain in the item field text. I've tried many combinations, and it always remains. Seems like a bug to me...?

- However, the " @" -- while I understand it's being ignored (and it is) -- is effectively removed from the item field text. This works.

Sure looks like a bug. I'll fix it in the next release !

Thanks for pin-pointing it for me

Thanks, Pierre. I'm looking forward to playing w the new email gizmo. I like the of idea of having a separate email dB.

One thing i would like to mention is that -- altho you may well have fixed the disappearing column issue that has haunted us for a while -- I'm not sure that AUTO SAVE works which means if user does not save grid adjusments, i.e. new columns or whatever disappear.  At least that is my experience here.

Have a Merry Xmas & Happy New Year.

And thanks for our IQ xmas gift.

The auto-save issue was fixed in pre-rel7

 Hi Pierre,

I can't type anything on the "HTML" screen at all.  I just started using windows 8 and I tried both versions (stable and pre-rel 7).

thanks
