Filtering for Calendar Display

Submitted by d bartlett on 2013/05/15 23:46
Pierre or anybody,

Is there a way to associate Calendar Items with (for example) a Project(s), and then filter to display only the Calendar Items associated with selected Project(s) ?

I use the Appointment Grid to create Calendar Items, but filtering Appointments for a selected Project(s) doesn't have any effect on the Calendar display.

thanks

Hi Doug,

Filtering is not currently possible in the Calendar. It is planned though.

You can setup the gantt portion of a grid to show calendar items, and it can be filtered.

Doug,

As Pierre states, not possible in Calendar view
but
I want to make sure you know you can accomplish what you want in a grid view
although you did not ask about that.

thanks Jan,

Yes, I'm aware of that and do use filtering of Projects in different grids for different purposes.

Reason I'm asking about filtering in Calendar View, though, is for purposes of creating calendar-familiar-format visual schedules for the benefit of Customers and Trades.  Which of course can be done in MS Project, and is my current methodology - but that can be a time consuming effort and a duplication of data entry across multiple programs, which I prefer to avoid if possible.

Maybe another way of accomplishing this could be the creation of multiple calendar "grids" from within one InfoQube file.  Right now wer'e limited to one calendar "grid" (view) from within one InfoQube files, as least so far as I know.

Yikes. I hear you.  I've long advocating for work on the calendar module to make it useful. It frustrates me that this doesn't seem to be happening always for another reason. I think Pierre is not focused on the larger picture that a useful calendar module would provide You have demonstrated another example of the need.

It's funny, a simple fix like being able to re-open my last session is so helpful but when I look at mapping I wonder how many people that's going to affect. Maybe a lot but I do know that everyone  who uses IQ will benefit from the new "last session" improvement.
