How about putting the "Show Grid in Toolbar" checkbox as a column in the Manage Grids table (instead of the Options to the right).  Would make it very easy to hide/show grids in the toolbar or View > Grids menu, to clear up a cluttered list.  Also might be nice to float the "checked" grids to the top of the Manage Grids list.

Actually might be nice to clarify that that "Show Grid In" applies not only to toolbar when displayed, but also to the View > Grids menu.

Also have to say when I want to open a Grid, my instinct is always to go to the Grid menu instead of the View menu.  Seems like if it pertains to a Grid, it should be in the Grid menu.  But I understand if others think it fits better in the View menu.

Some good points, Jim.  I like the suggestion of adding the "Show in Toolbar" checkbox as a column in the Manage Grids table. Not only would it allow to order grids by that "field", but it would make that important option more visible

[And should say :  "Show in Toolbar/Grids menu"]

I forgot about the option and happily just removed a bunch of grids from my menu (I don't use the toolbar, but the menu version, in which I travel by pressing keys-letters -- when I'm not using the Omnibox, of course)...!
I also (re)discovered why another bunch were not showing up! For the last 2 years -- since I forgot about that option -- I thought it was a bug... :)

Several improvements to the Grid management UI, including your proposition, are included in v0.9.26PreRel55

Great!

It will be nice to have as many grids as we want, but to have it very easy to declutter the Views toolbar and the View > Grids menu.

I recently discovered that It's still very easy to launch any grid not included in the Views toolbar and View > Grids menu - just double-click it in the Tools > Manage Grids dialog.

Yup
In v0.9.26PreRel55, you can also use the context menu to open a grid from the grid management UI

I personally am a big fan of the "recent grid" menu. It fulfills most of my needs
