How how would I expand or collapse all Items at once.
thanks

Hi Al,
  • Ctrl+1 will collapse all items
  • Ctrl+2 will show two levels i.e. Parents + Children
  • Ctrl+3, three levels
  • Ctrl+9 will bring you down to nine levels, hopefully that will be enough for you :-)

Adding the Shift key will cause this to work only on selected item/s. (I dont use this one much myself.) For multiple items, it's probably more useful for expanding than for collapsing.
Ctrl+Left/right-arrowkeys will expand collapse the hierarchy of the selected item, including collapsing 'upwards' so as the selected item is no longer visible.

Doesn't do anything, I'm using PreRel67a portable.
Thanks Tom

Sometimes shortcuts stop working and I click a tab to bring them back -- never mentioned it, but it could be applicable to others, who knows...

That said, the shortcuts should work, unless your filters prevent you to see subitems etc.

I guess the best way of checking it is to manually expand a bunch of items so as their children & grandchildren are showing.
Then, try the collapsing hotkey/s: e.g. Ctrl+1

If that doesnt work we have a bug.
If it does work, but going the other direction (expanding) doesnt work, then we have to look at what Armando is saying (about filters etc).

Works fine here with 67a with grid with 'Outline (normal)':
menu: Grid > Outline (normal)             [=> it should be highlighted]

Thanks Tom, by selecting Ctrl+A, then Shift+Ctrl+3 works fine to expand to the 3 levels I need.

That's good.

Re the ones that dont work:

maybe the grid just needed focus:
do the Ctrl+{number} hotkeys work if you click somewhere in the grid first?

Ctrl+Shift+Number works too. Only, as you saw, it works only on selected items.
Ctrl+A + Ctrl+Shift+number is also convenient when hierarchies are deep and you need to exceed 9 levels : just select all, and ctrl+shift+number.

Sorry for digging up this old thread:

1. The previous shortcuts for this functionality seem to have been reversed. Ctrl+numeral affects the selected items and Shift+Ctrl+numeral affects all branches in the grid.
2. Request: I'd like a command to reset an entire grid's collapse / expand state, i.e. to collapse all junctions for all items in the grid. I could use Shift+Ctrl+9,Shift+Ctrl+8 and so forth up until 1, though, I guess.

Thanks!
